In 2008 several small meditation groups with similar Tibetan Buddhist roots came together under the leadership of Don Belanger and Granite State Sangha was born.
Don has been practicing in the Zen Buddhist tradition since 1992 and in the beginning of 2004, he joined a Tibetan Dzogchen practice group. He has been leading meditations in that group since 2005. During that time, he recognized a connection with Lama John Makransky and his teachings of Innate Wisdom and Compassion and now focuses on those practices. He has attended retreats with Sensei Sunyana Graef, Albert Low, Lama Surya Das, Lama Willa Miller, and Lama John Makransky. He leads 2 Innate Compassion and Wisdom meditation groups in Concord, New Hampshire, a Buddhist group and a non-denominational group.
Doreen (Dori) Bongiovanni began practicing meditation in 1989. She has attended many retreats with Lama Surya Das, Lama Willa Miller and Lama John Makransky. Dori has also has given presentations to several civic groups, high school and college classes on the subject of Buddhism. Dori is currently a member of the Greater Concord Interfaith Council.
Michael (Mike) Allard began practicing meditation in 1990. He has attended numerous retreats with Lama Surya Das and is currently a close student of Brendan Kennedy. Mike is also a devotee of the ever present, but not in body, Sri Ramana Maharshi.
